Censorship Rant
I think this is censorship.
But censoring is happening everywhere.
And I dont mean third world countries.
Fuck, I dont even want to talk about aliens out loud,
Because I think someone will swoop down and get me.
This fear of big brother is unsettling.
Shouldn’t we be able to express ourselves.
Freedom of speech and all that?
Even writing this I feel weary to be honest.
I don’t believe that is right.
Websites like thedirty.com have lawsuits,
Because they are posting bad things about people.
Like this person is a slut, that person is a whore.
Shouldn’t we be able to write what we want?
Supposedly we’re not allowed to write things that are untrue about someone,
You can get sued for that.
But who can prove if its true or not.
And what degree of lie does it have to be.
If I wrote “joe” from “mcdicks”
Is stealing millions of dollars from the company.
And it was a lie, I could get sued!
So what if I write “jacky” is a “whore”
And she is not in fact a prostitute.
Could I still get sued?
What if this jacky couldn’t get a job as a teacher because of the lie,
Then would I be sued?
The law is changing so much,
And even if it is to “protect us”
Is it to protect our rights?
Will the law start becoming like an overbearing parent,
Looking in “our best intrest”
Without speaking to us
Before asking our consent.
Or if they ask for it,
Will we give our rights away.
Because we want to be “protected”
Shouldn’t we be allowed to say whatever we want,
And just be raised better to know not to be racist,
Or disrespectful.
Maybe we should learn how to teach children how to be nicer adults,
To care more, to sympathize, to overcome events in the past,
To love themselves, to empathize,
To not see eachother by colour, age, or religion.
To be good people, to want to help.
Maybe we shouldn’t stop people from saying things,
We should stop them from wanting to say them.
Censorship is wrong,
And it should be stopped,
Even if it is to “protect us”
